Taxonomy Module import script development

Further to my post at http://vsmith.info/DrupalTaxonomy, we need to alter this script so it handles multiple hierarchies, synonyms, and descriptions. The description field should contain authority information - ideally a URL to the Bibio entry that describes the taxon. We need to explore whether this is possible.

Taxonomy module not the place for this.
I don't feel that the Taxonomy module is the correct place to be importing complicated hierarchies with synonyms etc. We should probably create an extension to the taxonomy module to handle these.
